Jobs with a WGST edge

A degree in WGST opens doors: professional activities include working on equity issues at various levels of governance--municipal, provincial, and federal; administering programs and policies to address systemic and structural barriers in the workplace; administering social and community services in a city; implementing policies to support truth and reconciliation; counselling women at a domestic violence shelter; carrying out legal procedures to fight homophobic, transphobic, and misogynistic violence; addressing issues of work-family balance in human resources; non-profit fundraising for gender-related causes; organizing for gay and transgender rights; teaching with gender-awareness; or engaging in activism. There is a whole host of professional fields for which understanding and heeding the complexity of gender is essential.

The extensive list of provincial, national, and international community organizations provided under the "Resources at Acadia and Beyond" section constitutes a very clear demonstration of the types of jobs that a degree in Women's and Gender Studies can prepare you for.
